Abstract
of the presentation:
In
2001, the Philippine
Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care of
the Department of Health (DOH-PITAHC) in partnership with
the Pranic Healing Foundation of the Philippines explored
possibilities of integrating pranic healing into the country's
health care delivery system.
From
1992-2001 a total of 12,506 attended pranic healing courses
throughout the Philippines. The uneven distribution of
graduates indicate high shares in Regions IV, I and the
National Capital Region, and low shares in Regions VIII, X and
VII. Achieving a ratio of one pranic healer for every 5,000
population is the desired goal. The creation of PITAC in 1997
provided an institutional base for accelerating the
dissemination of pranic healing.
The
execise envisioned the strengthening of the health care
delivery system through meditation and energy healing,
consequently legitimizing pranic healing. This is to be
achieved by setting-up models of pranic healing centers in six
regions using government hospitals and community health
facilities among others; build training capacities of at least
16 Department of Health Trainors-Organizers;
